Terapeak Research to Replace eBay Marketplace Research
19 August 2008It was announced on Friday that eBay marketplace research would no longer exist. In it’s place, eBay has contracted with Terapeak to provide their excellent eBay Research product. The switch will be flipped on September 15, 2008.
From the press release:
Terapeak, an eBay Certified Provider,
today announced that Marketplace Research by Terapeak is being offered as an
alternative for eBay Marketplace Research, which eBay plans to retire as of
September 15th, 2008. Available to all existing eBay Marketplace Research
subscribers, and to all eBay users going forward, the tool will be
accessible from the eBay website, and Terapeak will provide dedicated
customer support.Fred Speckeen, CEO of Terapeak/AERS, says, “The transfer of research
responsibilities to Terapeak reflects our longstanding business relationship
with eBay, and our company’s commitment to providing the best market
research product possible. Although most eBay sellers know us for our
Terapeak product, AERS was the first licensee of eBay data, and also
provides e-commerce analytics based on eBay data to the larger Fortune 1000
community. We are proud and excited to be invited to offer Terapeak as an
alternative to eBay Marketplace Research.”
I’ve long thought that the Terapeak engine was much better than the marketplace research engine. This should be an interesting change however. Might take a few times around for users to get used to the software as well as differences in prices and such.

You know what they say, change is good, it will just take a little while to get used to it. I like your site, a must for ebay sellers!

I agree, eBay Marketplace Research was an awful product. Can’t wait to see it replaced.

Yeah, I always preferred Terapeak’s engine to the marketplace research one. Hopefully the transition is smooth though, who knows what kind of bugs or other weird stuff could happen.

Interesting. I used to have an ebay store, but have now opened my own online store. Still sell some things here and there, but the fun has vanished. Especially since sales has slowed down, but fees keep going up. I’d guess the fees to this will go up as well hugh?
Blessings

The ebay marketplace was beat anyway. I think Ebay should be strictly for auctions. If you just want to sell something with no auction, there are plenty of places to do that.

Interesting new development. We will have to see how it goes. Your site is a great resource for folks who love ebay. Thanks!
