Terapeak for eBay Research

I’ve been delaying trying out terapeak for a while now. It’s always gotten good reviews, but I just couldn’t see myself paying up for a subscription service when my eBay habit is still on level with a hobby. So, it was a good thing that they contacted me through ReviewMe to do a review of their service. More to the point, their free research services.

I don’t know why I’ve been using any other method for researching my items. The depth that their free ebay research service goes to is about right for what I do. I don’t necessarily need to be able to see the various trends and hot products. Nor do I need to research sellers. What I do need is the ability to easily look up a product and research prices and add-ons. Terapeak does that.

As you can see in the screen shot, research is not only quick, it’s very detailed. Across the top, you have the keywords that you searched for along with the ability to change to a different eBay site, pick a category, and also to extend the time you want to look back. On the left, you have filters that allow for filtering between different categories and price ranges. In the middle, you can see the meat of the research. It’s got everything. You can look to see what days the items sold on. Then compare how many of them sold and for what average price. You can also take a look at whether adding gallery is worth the effort. What time of day worked best? They’ve got that in there too. And you can also take a look at the categories that items were listed in. Then, at the bottom, you’ve got a sample of the auctions that the research returned. That’s a great way to make sure you’re looking at the right product.

Aside from the research, they also have a “Title Builder.” It’s a neat-o tool that dynamically helps you build the best title for your item. To start with, just punch in the model number of your item. It will then show other keywords that have appeared in titles with that keyword and show sale prices for those items. Add the best keywords to make the ultimate title. Just make sure it’s still somewhat descriptive. This is a great tool for beginners, but also for those of us who are creatively challenged when it comes to the limits of the title.

The free tools at terapeak are worth a look. And if you do a fair amount of volume and find that research is taking up most of your time, you might want to look into the paid services that allow for a few more options. The service is only $24.95 a month or $197.95 a year for any one individual eBay site. And you can group them all together for just a bit more. The motors.ebay.com sites are completely separate however and are just a hair more than any of the one site packages.

Overall, the service is pretty great. I’ll be using terapeak’s free research for most of my research now. It’s faster and more efficient than drudging through eBay’s site for all that information. Give it a try.
