20 September 2007Way back when, before Golden Palace Casino started buying things off of eBay for publicity, half.com bought the name of a town. The town was Halfway, Oregon. For $100,000 and some computers for the school, the town agreed to change their name to Half.com, Oregon.
The town has since changed their name back. They’ve thrown one of the signs into the town museum and have decided to auction off the other one on the only site that makes sense. eBay. At the moment of this writing, the current bid is just a hair over $500 and rising.
