According to a recent eBay survey run by Nielsen customized research, the average household has over 50 unused items that are worth over $3100 on eBay.
I know that when my Wife and I first began selling we didn’t sell much from our own house but chose instead to sell items that we found at garage sales. Eventually, we had a few bad weekends at garage sales and in a struggle to find items to sell, we began selling unused items from our house. While I’m sure we didn’t make anywhere near $3100 from the household items that we sold, we certainly did make at least $1000 off of them.
It’s surprising really when you stop to think about it and you realize that all that stuff was completely unused and taking up space. And now, it has a place somewhere and we had some money to do our own things with.
If you sell on eBay, or even if you don’t, I challenge you to take a real hard look at your house and see if you can find some items that can be sold on eBay. You just might find a mini-fortune hiding in your basement.
