Toy wishes announced the annual “Hot Dozen” list of toys for the holidays. It’s meant to be a list of the toys that will be the hottest sellers this holiday season. Frankly, I think lists like this are worth taking notice of, but are mostly bunk. If they could predict the hottest toys for the holiday season, wouldn’t they just go buy as many as they could in hopes of making a tidy profit in a month or two? I think I would.
In any case, the list is widely varied. There are several that could turn out to be hot like the Barbie girls toys. An addition to an online Barbie world that allows for safe online play as well as personal play off line. It’s a good step forward for what has been labeled as a stale brand.
Guitar Hero 3 is pretty much a sure bet, as the first two versions have been good sellers already. Those two are about the only two on there that even remotely seem like a good buy. That’s my opinion and I certainly don’t do that for a living like the folks at Toy Wishes. But come on. American Idol Talent Challenge? Rubik’s Revolution? Smart Cycle? I’d rather my kid goes outside than sit in front of the television on a bicycle game. I really just don’t see Rubik’s Revolution catching on at all. And how much did Simon pay to have the American Idol Talent Challenge top the list?
Any way you look at it, having your toy on this list has got to be good for sales. And these toys will likely see sales that are higher than most earlier than most simply because of the list. My only question is where is this year’s Tickle Me Elmo?

Have to agree with your comments on GH3, and the other competitors. At least GH3 excersizes some kind of mental activity.

Agreed about GH3, I have even been using some cheats http://www.gamecheats.com/pc/Guitar-Hero-3-Legends-Of-Rock lately to make it more enjoyable and save me some money on buying the new game. I only wish there were a few more hours in the day to play
