From an eBay announcement:
eBay will be discontinuing the eBay Keywords program at the end of September.
The program will be phased out rather than just completely shut off. Appearantly, the usage was far less than what eBay had previously thought it would be. Beginning the week of September 5th, the ads will be removed from the search pages and then on September 30th, the program will close.
The eBay Keywords program has been used by a very small percentage of eBay members since its launch in 2003. Sellers who have participated in the eBay Keywords program will receive an email with more information about the closing of the eBay Keywords program.
I personally never used the program as it seemed a little bit too much for my meager needs, but I know I’ve seen it in action and have heard several store owners that have used it say the click through was poor. I’d be interested in hearing if anyone has used it and is disappointed that it is going to go away.
