eBay Faves: Contest for eBay’s Faves?

19 September 2007

Perhaps you received a catalog in the mail this week. Much like the normal catalog that eBay sends out regularly it has a pretty large list of items that are available on eBay. One thing different is that it’s slightly personalized with a web address that goes something like http://ebayfaves.com/userID . When you go there, you find a custom website that is customized for you with items that eBay thinks you might like to buy.

It’s a pretty good marketing ploy really. Personalization is always a good seller. Add to that the contest that is hidden amongst the catalog and site and you’ve got a pretty good promotion. It’s also exclusive. I tried changing the userID that was in the catalog with a few other userIDs that I have and found that none of them worked. So, it’s only available to those who got the catalog in the mail. Which also means that only the people who got the catalog in the mail can sign up for the contest.

Better than usualy odds I guess. Still probably about the same as winning the lottery, but better than normal. Did you get a catalog?
