eBay’s new baby, Express, is getting a few new updates for the holiday season.
Added functionality in the way of three new additions to the buyer experience should give a little bit more to the buyer experience and increase sales for those that are using the express to sell.
- Buyers can easily see what else the seller has for sale via a “This Merchant’s Items” tab on eBay Express item pages.
- Buyers now see merchandised items at the bottom of each item page. These items are from the “Related Items” tab, which has been improved to show more relevant suggestions.
- In addition, buyers will soon be able to subscribe to the eBay Express Pulse email, which highlights popular items in categories you’ve shopped in previously. Sellers can also use the eBay Express Pulse to see what’s in demand with buyers.
The this merchant and related items tabs are probably the best of the three. They give the buyer the opportunity to be loyal to a seller and also to find items that might go with an item they just added to their cart such as cases/battery/etc for a new cell phone. The Pulse addition really is more of a seller addition and as any experienced seller will tell you, if it’s already on pulse, you probably should avoid trying to sell it.
The only other addition to Express will be a Wish List feature that could prove popular. Imagine letting relatives and gift buyers go and buy items that you’ve picked out and pay less than retail doing so. It could be a great move for eBay to position themselves further as the online source for shopping.
