eBay combined shipping improvements on the way
23 March 2007eBay announced yesterday that there are some pending changes to the combined shipping feature. At the moment, I can’t find a set date that they will be rolled out, but I’m sure they’ll announce that soon. The improvements seem to be things that everyone has been looking for with one big one(in my opinion) to cap it off. There are three changes:
- Extended Merchandising: Messaging promoting additional purchases from seller
- Different Discounts: You’ll be able to set different discounts for different items. For example: heavier items get less of a discount or not discount.
- Promotional Shipping: This is the big one in my opinion. This will give us the ability to say “Free shipping when you use Buy it Now!” or a myriad of other promos as well.
I really think the Promotional shipping is going to have the biggest impact on our sales and could prove to be a great tool for us. The extended merchandising may or may not do anything as it already is done to some extent, just is getting a revamp. The different discounts might also be helpful as we sell a pretty varied selection and sometimes it’s not possible to combine everything. How will these changes affect you?
