It’s not very often that eBay announces a test of a prototype of a new feature. The Map It feature allows for a search that returns items based on the distance from the zip code on your account.
This week we’re launching a small test we call the eBay Map It Prototype. This expands on your ability to search for items by ZIP code – when you use eBay Map It to search for listings within a specific radius, you’ll see a map indicating exactly where these items are located.
I’ve taken the liberty of going over and testing the prototype and it seems to work pretty well. I’d like to see the map a little more centered, but it does seem to serve the purpose. If you’re concerned about shipping charges or simply want to pick an item up, this could become a valuable tool to use.
