Bill Cobb, in his latest newsletter, announced the new fee changes that are effective January 30th, 2007. Not really much of extreme note.
Insertion fee for $1.00 to $9.99 range changed from $0.35 to $0.40 and the final value fee for the $25 to $1000 range changed from 3% to 3.25%.
There are a few changes to the eBay motors side as well. Transaction fees up a little and reserve fees up a little as well.
Overall, not nearly as gossip worthy as the store fee changes in August. There aren’t even any changes to the store fees this time around. What should be noted however is that the changes that were made were to probably the two most used ranges. Especially the FVF range increase.
Still not entirely in the best interest of the masses. I can’t argue that they are docile in comparison to recent hikes though. Hopefully they will be the only ones this year.

It’s not a significant fee hike this time, however, it is still significantly above the rate of inflation.
Lets hope Ebay’s competitors will take advantage and give Greedbay a run for their money.

‘Hopefully they will be the only ones this year.’
I doubt that, ebay will probably announce further fee increases to combat the flap which will take place once the investors see the results of the dramatic August changes – in SIF listings visibility and the massive fee-hike which, contrary to ebay’s assertions, saw many sellers’ fees rise by up to 800% (see the Australian discussion boards for backup on that figure) – in terms of the business which ebay have lost.
There are many alternatives to ebay. They may not have comparable traffic – yet – but if we all list ‘elsewhere’ then ebay won’t have the traffic, ‘elsewhere’ will.
