Do you have goals?

Posted by thatedeguy on 2nd January , 2007 - 3 responses

Do you, like most everyone else, start off the year with the best intentions? Do you write down a list of goals that you’ve made for yourself to achieve during the coming year?

Well, in business, particularly online business, the best intentions may not be good enough if you don’t follow through with them. You need to make a list, post it where you’ll see it regularly (over the computer monitor works well), and stick too it.

Rather than give you some dry diatribe of how to set your goals and have you do something completely different, I thought I might just share some of my goals for this coming year.

As you formulate your goals, it is important to take a close look at what you accomplished in the previous year and what you want to improve or accomplish in the coming year.

Because I do so much traffic in Garage Sale finds, it is hard for me to nail down a solid growth number for sales. I have dabbled a little in a couple of other areas and am hoping that the most recent fulfills the potential that I see for it. Because of that, I’m setting a goal of 100% revenue growth. It sounds a little bit generous, but if I follow through with the new leads, it is completely feasible.

My other major goal for the year is to continue to try and expand my product offerings and further test and learn ways to make money from not only online auctions but the online world in general.

That’s it. No others. At least not within this spectrum. And when it really boils down to the nitty gritty, that’s all there really is. Revenue growth and product growth. They kind of go hand in hand if you think about it.

What are your goals for the new year? Do you go into more detail than I have or less? Hard to go into less detail I imagine, but there’s plenty of room to go into deeper detail.
