A new listing format is now available to the eBay UK users called Classified ads. It seems to work exactly the same way a classified ad would work in your local paper. The seller places the ad, the buyer contacts the seller and the details are worked out off site.
We�re delighted to announce that Classified Ads are now available on eBayMotors.co.uk, in the Cars, Motorcycles and other vehicle categories, as well as in select Business, Office and Industrial categories on eBay.co.uk. With the new Classified Ad format, sellers and buyers do not complete the transaction online through eBay. Instead, sellers can use Classified Ads to advertise their items for sale on eBay and generate multiple leads.
I find it slightly ironic that eBay has harped on the illegality and unsafety of conducting business off site when the contact was initially made on eBay but then implements the exact same thing on eBay.
The fees seem to be fairly decent. I’m not in the UK so I don’t know the exact conversion but it seems to be an introductory price of about $11.00 USD. Not bad if it gets a seller several leads and potential buyers.
